Abetalipoproteinemia is an online support group that disseminates information about the care and treatment of people with abetalipoproteinemia, a rare, incurable, genetic disorder characterized by the body's inability to properly absorb and transport fats. The group provides information to health professionals and the general public, as well as to affected families. It also supports parents in their quest for treatment for their children, and provides opportunities for sharing information related to the diagnosis and treatment of this very rare disorder. The only meetings are online, although members of the group may also share their telephone numbers with each other.
